How The Orange Peel Grab moves more
The Orange Peel Grab has a cast-iron reputation in handling difficult to handle bulk materials. Explore the features that add up in the long run.
High quality
As with all our grabs, we want to keep your operations costs as low as possible that is why our Orange Peel Grabs are made with the highest possible quality steel, such as Dillidur 400. The Orange Peel Grab’s closing rope guide can also be equipped with low friction cable guides, which will increase the lifespan of the closing cable immensely.
Maximum efficiency
Depending on the lifting power required, the Orange Peel Grab is equipped with six or eight claws. The grapple is available, depending on the material it needs to process, with an open, half-open or closed claws. With its relative independently movable claws, the Orange Peel Grab has excellent digging power.
Features
This grab features a robust arm construction with pivot point protection. Additionally, you can option for radiation detection on scrap grabs. Moreover, it features closing rope with guide wheels or bell mouths and an automatic central lubrication system.

Built to perform
Proven before it ships
Engineered. Tested. Documented. Every grab is verified against documented standards before it leaves our workshop. From simulation and material selection to final inspection, performance is validated before it reaches your terminal.
Designed for heavy duty, verified in simulation
Before production begins, geometry, load paths, and structural behavior are analyzed using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Critical wear zones are reinforced and material choices are validated to ensure durability in demanding bulk applications.
Everything quality build – all the way from plate to paint
From CNC-cut plates to qualified welding and final assembly, each grab is produced under documented procedures. Material traceability and in-process checks ensure consistent build quality at every stage.
Inspected and documented before it ships
Every grab undergoes a structured 60-point inspection during manufacturing and final acceptance testing. Dimensions, weld quality, and functional performance are verified and recorded before shipment.
Optimized performance
Discover how terminals and transshipment crews use our grabs to get shorter cycles, cleaner hatches, and fewer unplanned stops.
SMT Shipping
"Our handling speed increased from 1,000 to 1,250 tons per hour. The NemaX paid for itself more than four times in its first year. "
VLI Pecém
"We now unload a ship in four days instead of five. Savings in demurrage costs are considerable, to say the least."

Keep your operation on schedule.
Planned inspections, clear maintenance guidance, and fast technical support help you avoid unplanned downtime. From commissioning to long-term operation, Nemag supports the performance of your grab throughout its entire lifecycle.
Lifecycle support from day one
A grab is a complex piece of equipment that cannot simply be sent back to the factory when questions arise. That is why Nemag supports customers on-site and remotely with practical guidance, troubleshooting, and operator training.
From start-up and commissioning to performance optimization and wear assessment, our engineers help ensure your grab operates as intended in real-world conditions.
Service & maintenance
From commissioning to years of operation, we support our customers throughout the full lifecycle of the grab. Our service teams provide technical assistance, inspections, and guidance whenever needed, helping operators keep performance predictable over time.
Spare parts availability
All spare parts remain available throughout the entire lifetime of the grab. This ensures repairs, replacements, and upgrades can be carried out without uncertainty, even many years after delivery.
Documentation & guidance
Each grab is delivered with comprehensive manuals, inspection guidelines, and welding instructions. Combined with the manufacturing data book, this documentation provides full transparency and supports safe operation, maintenance, and repairs.
Grab selection can be hard
Our grabs are designed to help reduce risk through engineering details (e.g., accessible harness points, smooth/flush contours), and are validated with documented processes (e.g., 60-point inspections, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 certificates, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) summaries, proof-load testing).
Safe operation always depends on trained personnel, correct procedures, and the crane/terminal’s own safety policies.
Planned inspections at regular cycle intervals (e.g., basic checks around 10 000 cycles; deeper inspections around 100 000 cycles) are recommended by Nemag.
Wear parts and kits are available and can be delivered with your purchase.
Typical dispatch target for stocked parts is under 48 hours to keep downtime low.
