Features & Specifications

How the Rope Pear Socket connects everything

The Rope Pear Socket is an end connection especially designed by Nemag for steel wire rope.

Product-Feature-Placeholder-V2-01

Long lifespan

For the longest lifespan and great safety, our Rope Pear Sockets are made out of high-grade austenitic manganese steel. That is why they generally last longer than steel wire ropes.

Standard & S-range

The standard range of Rope Pear Sockets is available for almost all of your steel wire ropes. For special high strength wire ropes – like compacted steel wire ropes – we have invented the S-series Rope Pear Sockets: ideal to be used in combination with your 8-strand steel wire ropes.

Increased safety

Our Rope Pear Socket increases safety and is designed to smoothly pass over cable sheaves. The sockets can be fitted by means of a 2-component resin or by hot socketing.

Additional features & specifications

Advantages of the Rope Pear Socket
  • The Rope Pear Socket is
designed to, in combination with the
    Nemag Quick Release Link, smoothly
    pass over cable sheaves.

  • The life span of the Rope Pear Socket generally surpasses that of the steel wire rope.

  • It can be fitted by casting with a 2-component casting mass without the need for outside assistance, and ensures a strong connection.

  • Our range of Rope Pear Sockets
is suited to any type of steel wire
    rope.

How does the design affect rope fatigue?
A characteristic of our rope pear socket is the decreased steel wire rope fatigue upon passing the cable sheave thanks to optimised design
What is the advantage of austenic manganese steel?

The Nemag Rope Pear Socket is cast from high-grade austenic manganese steel and generally lasts longer than the steel wire rope itself.

Austenic manganese steel combines a great thoughness and a high resistance to wear.

Quality Assurance

Built to perform
Proven before it ships

Engineered. Tested. Documented. Every grab is verified against documented standards before it leaves our workshop. From simulation and material selection to final inspection, performance is validated before it reaches your terminal.

Product-Feature-Placeholder-04-1

Designed for heavy duty, verified in simulation

Before production begins, geometry, load paths, and structural behavior are analyzed using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Critical wear zones are reinforced and material choices are validated to ensure durability in demanding bulk applications.

Product-Feature-Placeholder-05-1

Everything quality build – all the way from plate to paint

From CNC-cut plates to qualified welding and final assembly, each grab is produced under documented procedures. Material traceability and in-process checks ensure consistent build quality at every stage.

Product-Feature-Placeholder-06-1

Inspected and documented before it ships

Every grab undergoes a structured 60-point inspection during manufacturing and final acceptance testing. Dimensions, weld quality, and functional performance are verified and recorded before shipment.

Service & Maintenance

Keep your operation on schedule.

Planned inspections, clear maintenance guidance, and fast technical support help you avoid unplanned downtime. From commissioning to long-term operation, Nemag supports the performance of your grab throughout its entire lifecycle.

Lifecycle support from day one

A grab is a complex piece of equipment that cannot simply be sent back to the factory when questions arise. That is why Nemag supports customers on-site and remotely with practical guidance, troubleshooting, and operator training.

From start-up and commissioning to performance optimization and wear assessment, our engineers help ensure your grab operates as intended in real-world conditions.

Grab selection can be hard

Selecting the right grab and ensuring you got all the information for your team can be a challenge. Most common questions are listed below, still need help then contact us.
Safety and compliance accountability for Nemag equipment?

Our grabs are designed to help reduce risk through engineering details (e.g., accessible harness points, smooth/flush contours), and are validated with documented processes (e.g., 60-point inspections, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 certificates, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) summaries, proof-load testing).

Safe operation always depends on trained personnel, correct procedures, and the crane/terminal’s own safety policies.

Maintenance and lead time on spare parts?

Planned inspections at regular cycle intervals (e.g., basic checks around 10 000 cycles; deeper inspections around 100 000 cycles) are recommended by Nemag.

Wear parts and kits are available and can be delivered with your purchase.

Typical dispatch target for stocked parts is under 48 hours to keep downtime low.
