Supporting performance throughout the lifecycle of your grab
Grabs operate at the heart of daily terminal operations and cannot simply be returned to the factory when maintenance or troubleshooting is required. Reliable documentation, practical guidance and long-term technical support are therefore essential.
At Nemag, service and maintenance are built into how our grabs are designed and supported. From commissioning and operational guidance to spare parts and technical advice, we support customers throughout the full lifecycle of their equipment.
Lifetime service commitment
Nemag supports your grab throughout its full operational lifecycle. From commissioning and operational guidance to technical advice and spare parts, our engineers remain available long after delivery.
Product transportation
Grabs can be transported fully assembled or in modular configuration depending on logistics constraints. Nemag provides unloading plans, lifting instructions and assembly documentation to ensure a smooth installation process.
Maintenance & documentation
Each grab is delivered with a comprehensive operation and maintenance manual. This includes inspection schedules, maintenance procedures, technical drawings and troubleshooting guidance to support safe and efficient operation.
Spare parts availability
Original components and spare parts remain available throughout the lifetime of the grab. This allows repairs, replacements and upgrades to be carried out even many years after delivery.
100% Service guaranteed
Our lifetime service commitment
Nemag’s reputation as a family business since 1924 is built not only on delivering high-performance grabs, but also on supporting them throughout their full lifecycle. Our equipment is designed for long-term operation, and our service philosophy reflects that commitment.
For every grab delivered, Nemag retains drawings, specifications and configuration data. This allows our engineers to support maintenance, repairs and spare parts supply even many years after delivery.
With this long-term approach, customers can rely on Nemag for practical advice, technical guidance and original spare parts whenever questions arise during the lifetime of their equipment.
Product transportation
Getting your product on-site
Nemag supports reliable worldwide delivery through an established network of transport partners. Depending on logistical constraints, grabs can be shipped fully assembled or in modular configuration using container transport. Delivery terms such as FOB or CIF can be arranged to support efficient international shipping.
Transport considerations are already taken into account during the design phase. Dimensions, module weights and lifting points are defined to support safe handling and efficient logistics.
After arrival, Nemag provides a structured approach to installation. This includes unloading plans, lifting instructions, detailed assembly documentation and practical assembly videos. When required, our engineers can also provide on-site support to ensure a smooth and efficient installation process.
Additional information on transportation
To support safe handling upon arrival, Nemag can provide detailed unloading plans for the grab. These plans indicate lifting points, handling procedures and recommended crane configurations for safe unloading.
By preparing the unloading process in advance, installation teams can reduce risks and avoid unnecessary delays during installation.
For grabs delivered in modular configuration, Nemag provides detailed assembly documentation. This includes drawings, step-by-step instructions and technical guidance to ensure components are assembled correctly.
The documentation allows customers to assemble the grab efficiently on-site while ensuring the installation remains aligned with the original design specifications.
If required, Nemag engineers can support the assembly and commissioning process on-site. This ensures the grab is installed correctly and ready for operation under the right conditions.
On-site guidance can also include practical advice on crane interaction, operating practices and initial performance checks.
Maintenance & Documentation
We help you maintain your products and reduce lifecycle costs
A grab operates in demanding conditions and is subject to continuous wear. Clear documentation and structured maintenance guidance are essential to maintain safe and predictable performance.
Every Nemag grab is delivered with a comprehensive Operation & Maintenance manual. This documentation provides operators, engineers and maintenance teams with practical guidance throughout the lifecycle of the equipment.
The manual includes system overviews, operating instructions, safety guidance, inspection schedules and maintenance procedures. It also contains installation instructions, transport guidance, technical data and troubleshooting support. Drawings, inspection forms and additional datasheets are included to ensure all relevant information is available in one structured reference.
The documentation you can receive from us
The Operation and Maintenance manual is provided with every Nemag grab and can be resent upon request. It supports operators, engineers and maintenance teams with clear guidance on safe operation and proper maintenance.
We recommend performing a basic inspection every 10,000 grab cycles, as well as after a collision or unintended use. A more extensive inspection should be carried out every 100,000 grab cycles and after major maintenance.
The manual includes information on the following subjects: system descriptions and overviews, safety guidance, installation instructions, operating procedures, maintenance schedules, maintenance procedures, transport and storage guidance, technical data and troubleshooting. Appendices include drawings, inspection forms and additional datasheets.
Technical drawings, component datasheets and troubleshooting guidance are available to support maintenance and repairs throughout the lifetime of the grab.
These documents help maintenance teams identify components, understand system configurations and resolve operational issues efficiently when needed.
Designed to support safe and efficient maintenance
Central Greasing System
We understand the importance of a safe working environment for operators and the need to maintain high productivity. For this reason, all Nemag grabs operate with a centralized greasing system.
Lubricating moving parts is essential to reduce wear and extend the lifetime of the grab.
However, greasing multiple lubrication points individually can be time-consuming and sometimes difficult to reach. The central greasing system allows operators to lubricate the entire grab quickly and safely from accessible locations, without the need for unsafe climbing.
In short, a central greasing system helps improve productivity while reducing maintenance effort and safety risks.
Lubrication details
If the grab has not been in operation for an extended period, apply grease to all lubrication points before operation. Nemag grabs use grease nipples sized 1/4” and 1/8”. The normal grease volume per nipple is 10 cc.
Recommended grease type and lubrication intervals are specified in the Operation & Maintenance manual. The manual can be resent upon request.
Trusted by operators worldwide
These customers successfully limit downtime through Nemag service support, proper maintenance schedules and the availability of spare parts.
SMT Shipping
"Our handling speed increased from 1,000 to 1,250 tons per hour. The NemaX paid for itself more than four times in its first year. "
VLI Pecém
"We now unload a ship in four days instead of five. Savings in demurrage costs are considerable, to say the least."
Parts for A lifetime
Components and spare parts
Spare parts and components can be supplied with the purchase of your grab and remain available throughout its entire lifetime. They can also be requested at any time when replacements are required.
Nemag designs grabs using internationally standardized components wherever possible, such as bearings and plate materials. This allows replacement parts to be sourced locally when needed.
Although Nemag grabs are designed for low maintenance, keeping essential spare parts in stock can help minimize downtime. Upon request, we can advise on recommended spare parts for your grab and provide a complete spare parts list, including pricing.
